The AGM was held on Wednesday, Feb 6th in Howth Yacht Club.

The minutes of the 2012 AGM, the 2012 committee report and the treasurer’s report were read, proposed and seconded.

Maire Gorman was elected the new President.  She took over from Janet Jeffrey at the termination of her 3 year stint.

Janet Jeffrey and Mary Stanley retired from the committee and were duly thanked. Maire Gorman, Lorna Hopkins, Helen Walsh, Rose Sevastopulo, Margaret Freyne, Pauline Gavin and Brigid McCaffrey were re elected.  3 new committee members – Ann Campbell, June Ryan and Francis Marr were welcomed onto the committee.

An active discussion concerning the future direction of the Society followed. It was decided that a subcommittee be formed to organise the 2 shows. (proposer George Sevastopulo)  A second proposal to research the various methods of running similar organisations worldwide was also passed (proposer Conall O’Caoimh)

After refreshments there followed a talk by Joe Curtis ‘Wildlife in the Garden’.  Joe structured his talk around an extensive series of his wonderful photographs.  He concentrated mainly on birds in his own garden in N. County Dublin, emphasising the various ways he attracts such a wide array – from the seed and insect eaters, water fowl and raptors.  He strayed a little further afield to the coast and offshore islands to habitats of sea birds.  Amphibians and mammals featured to a lesser degree.
