A chance to visit some of our own members’ very fine gardens. This is a great opportunity to learn and discuss what works in our own local area with the great expertise of our own members!

‘Splendid Shropshire’ The gardens of Shropshire by ferry and bus (2 nights 3 days) pto…  Tour includes: Accommodation for 2 nights in 4*hotel  2 course dinner on 2 nights  Breakfast on 2 mornings  Luxury coach for 3 days  Tour guide on board at all times  Ferry sailings between Dublin and Holyhead

Wednesday 26th July

‘Staying local’ A visit to Carmel Duignan’s garden followed by a visit to Murphy and Wood Garden Centre. (half day trip). This garden is in Shankill and includes coach hire and morning tea/ coffee and entrance to the garden.

Saturday 2 September

Annual Autumn Show held at St Nessans School, Baldoyle. All welcome.

Wednesday 4th October

Howth Yacht Club 8pm

A lecture by Averil Milligan, Head Gardener at Rowallane Garden, “Rowallane – a Plant Paradise”.

Wednesday 1st November

Howth Yacht Club 8pm

A lecture by Fionnuala Fallon. “The Education of a Gardener”. Fionnuala is well known to us all, both from the Irish Times, and as an inspiring speaker and is a practical, knowledgeable gardener who will present her tips and ideas for all spaces!

Wednesday 6th December

Howth Yacht Club 8pm

Social Night: Avoca’s talented Head Chef, Greg Molloy, will demonstrate some easy dishes to prepare for Christmas. Mulled wine, tea and coffee for all. Please bring a small cake or savouries.

At each lecture we encourage members to bring along a choice of plants for distribution amongst ourselves. Contributors get first choice followed by others for a small fee. If there are any leftovers they will be nurtured for future plant stalls at the shows.
