In light of the Government guidance issued on the 12th March 2020 to try to bring Coronavirus (COVID-19) under control, we have taken the disappointing but necessary decision to cancel our Spring Show on the Saturday 18th April 2020.


Saturday 16th May 2020
Day Trip
Burtown House and Gardens, Co. Kildare
Coach from Howth to Burtown House, Athy.  Tea/coffee on arrival.  Tour of the gardens designed by Isabel Shackleton and including many of Wendy Walsh’s rare plants. Wendy’s son James Fennell is the current owner.  Gardens include a wildflower meadow and a 4 acre kitchen garden.  After lunch we will visit Finlay Colley’s Rare Plant Nursery. Cost approx. €55 per person.

Day Trip
Coach from Howth to member Rosie Maye’s beautiful garden in Slane Co. Meath which we will tour with the owner
Refreshments and plants from Sedum & Sage for sale followed by lunch and a tour of John Lord’s garden and a visit to Ratoath Garden Centre.  Cost €50 per person.

Open Gardens in Howth and Sutton in conjunction with The Festival of Flowers at St. Mary’s Church of Ireland
Please consider opening your garden this year – all proceeds to St. Francis Hospice Raheny.

3 Day Trip – Gardens of the South West
A 3 day tour of the gardens in South West Ireland.  Coach from Howth visiting Gash Gardens, Co. Laois, Museum of Old Irish Ways Co. Limerick, Knockpatrick Gardens Foynes,  Cahernorry Church and Gardens and Angela Jupe’s Bellefield House in Offally and a visit to Johnstown Garden Centre. Further details to follow.

Members and non members are most welcome to attend and/or exhibit at the annual HSHS Autumn Show.  There will be a plant sale, book stall, raffle and refreshments for all to enjoy on the day.  Admission to Show: €2.  Entry for HSHS Members, visiting exhibitors and children is free.  Wheelchair access to all parts of the show. 

Every entry makes a show so don’t be reluctant to have a go this year. One entry or more from every member or visitor will guarantee a super show and there are classes to suit all.  Download copy of schedule here.
